GROW IN NEW JERSEY

GROW began officially in New Jersey in 1990 with funding from a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation mental heath initiative grant and a matching grant from the New Jersey Department of Mental Health.  Today, GROW in Jersey continues to receive state funding through an umbrella grant from Collaborative Support Programs of New Jersey, a successful mental health service run by consumer-providers.

GROW in New Jersey currently has a network of 20 member-run mutual-help groups and a staff of three who are responsible for the overall welfare and development of the New Jersey organization.  New Jersey GROW groups include general groups that meet at community venues (see list below), and groups for special populations that meet in professionally-operated facilities such as mental health centers, self-help centers, and hospitals.

GROW leaders and staff in New Jersey work collaboratively with GROW in America, GROW in Illinois, GROW in Rhode Island and GROW International to ensure the authentic development of GROW throughout the world.

We invite you to visit a New Jersey GROW group -- you don’t need an invitation or introduction.  Following is a list of New Jersey communities where one or more general GROW groups meet:

Brick Ocean Grove
Freehold Toms River (evening)
Glassboro Toms River (day)
Manahawkin Trenton
Manchester Vineland
Mount Holly

To find a group near you, call 1-888-741-GROW.
